Samoa has diplomatic relations with 85 countries (2016) and has been a member of the United Nations since 1976, the British Commonwealth since 1971 and the Pacific Islands Forum since 1971.

Samoa also has diplomatic missions in New York, Brussels, Canberra, Tokyo, and Wellington with Consulate Offices in Auckland, Sydney and American Samoa.
