Ambassador Luamanuvae Mariner hosted a dinner reception on the evening of Friday, 6th June 2025, to celebrate Samoa’s 63rd Independence Anniversary and to conclude the Embassy's annual pastoral visits to Samoan students studying in China. Samoan students studying in Beijing and Tianjin were invited to the reception. The Ambassador commended the students efforts and progress made with their studies and encouraged them to persevere despite the challenges they raised. Ambassador Mariner during his remarks highlighted the strength of Samoa and China’s bilateral relationship, and impressed on the important leadership role China and other major economies must play in resolving some of the global challenges faced by the international community. The Ambassador also highlighted the role and advisory support the Embassy is providing to all the Samoan students in China.
Three senior officials from Samoa’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Ministry of Public Enterprise (MPE) who were in Beijing for a training program also attended the event.
