SAMOA EMBASSY IN BEIJING HOSTS A CELEBRATORY DINNER FOR STUDENTS AND SAMOA COMMUNITY / Samoa Embassy Beijing / By Gabrielle The Embassy of Samoa in Beijing hosted a dinner on Saturday, 12 September 2026, bringing together Samoan students and members of the Samoa community in Beijing to mark the belated celebration of Samoa’s 64th Independence Anniversary, the conclusion of the Embassy’s annual visit to Samoan students across China, and the welcoming of new students commencing their studies in China. In his remarks, H.E. Luamanuvae Albert Mariner, Ambassador of Samoa to China, highlighted the achievements of Samoan students during the year, including the successful graduation of seven Samoan students from Wuhan and Nanjing, all with master’s degrees. The Ambassador also acknowledged issues and concerns raised by students over the past three years and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to working with students, government ministries and relevant Chinese institutions to provide support and assistance where possible. The Embassy also recognized and expressed appreciation for the contribution of Samoan students in Beijing to the 50th anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations between Samoa and China that was held in late 2025, and the Pacific Day celebrations held in May 2026, noting their active participation in promoting Samoa’s culture. The dinner provided an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Samoa’s students, engage with new/old students, and strengthen the sense of connection between the Embassy and the wider Samoa community in China.
