DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER AND MINISTER OF FINANCE REAFFIRMS SAMOA’S COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TRANSITION TO MEET THE GOALS OF THE PARIS AGREEMENT AT THE 2026 HIGH-LEVEL TAIYUAN ENERGY LOW CARBON DEVELOPMENT FORUM / Samoa Embassy Beijing / By Gabrielle The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Samoa, Hon. Mulipola Anarosa ‘Ale-Molio’o, delivered the keynote address at the 10th High-Level Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, on 4 September 2026. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Samoa’s commitment to renewable energy, climate resilience and sustainable development, and welcomed opportunities to strengthen international cooperation in support of Samoa’s energy transition. On the margins of the Forum, the Deputy Prime Minister also held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Tang Dengjie, Secretary of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee and Head of the Shanxi Provincial Government. The meeting focused on opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Samoa and Shanxi Province in renewable energy, climate resilience, education, capacity building and sustainable development, as well as enhancing people-to-people exchanges. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged China’s longstanding support for Samoa’s development and welcomed further opportunities for technical cooperation, knowledge exchange and educational partnerships, including continued support for Samoan students studying in China. Both sides expressed confidence in developing closer practical engagement between Samoa and Shanxi Province, building on the longstanding friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Samoa and China.
